Membership Program

Membership in NAPHIA is open to any company, organization or individual who wishes to be associated with the pet health insurance business in North America, by being actively involved in the industry, promoting, or providing services to it.

We are interested in working and partnering with companies and professionals are willing to be actively engaged, who will participate in NAPHIA initiatives and activities, including our Board of Directors and established working committees.

There are several levels of membership in NAPHIA, detailed below.

1) Membership Level: Industry

Who qualifies: Pets Insurance Companies & Underwriter Carriers of Pet Insurance Products in North America

Industry Level benefits:

  • To be featured on NAPHIA’s website, and thereby recognized as setting and maintaining high standards for the industry in service, coverage and disclosure.
  • To participate in NAPHIA’s Benchmarking Survey and Report, Industry Intelligence Report, and other research and benchmarking initiatives
  • To be credited as helping to make pet health insurance better understood through supported education and other means of building transparent value for all pet insurance
  • To use NAPHIA as central resource for reporting and dissemination of pet health insurance information to the marketplace
  • To have the support of NAPHIA in educating the insurance industry, the veterinary community and the public about the broad spectrum of pet health insurance products available
  • To receive NAPHIA market research, guidance concerning best practices, anti-fraud bulletins and other information and participate in benchmarking, data-sharing and other initiatives as they arise
  • To participate on NAPHIA Board of Directors, Annual Summit, Working Committees and attend meetings
  • To be associated with NAPHIA, incorporating our logo, name and website URL on all marketing materials, and to actively promote the organization in professional activities

Industry Level Responsibilities:

  • Abide by NAPHIA Bylaws, Code of Ethics and sign our Membership Agreement
  • Pay annual Membership Dues
  • Promote NAPHIA organization, brand and logo on its marketing materials
  • Appoint a designated representative at the C-Suite level (CEO, COO, CFO) to become an active member of NAPHIA’s Board of Directors
  • Cover costs and expenses related to participation in NAPHIA (i.e. travel, employee compensation, and incidental expenses
  • Comply with all applicable antitrust laws, including NAPHIA’s policies regarding antitrust compliance
  • Attend annual meetings and participate in Board of Director and committee work, either individually or through allocated Member resources
  • To be responsive to NAPHIA requests for support or information

2) Corporate Members-at-Large

Who qualifies: Corporations and For-Profit companies that work in related industries, or promote pet insurance products, but which are not pet insurance providers. This includes carriers/underwriters that do not currently underwrite a pet insurance product in North America.

Corporate Level Benefits:

  • To be featured on NAPHIA’s website, and thereby recognized for establishing and maintaining high standards for the industry
  • To receive a confidential copy of any published NAPHIA Research Reports, including NAPHIA’s Benchmarking Survey and Report, Industry Intelligence Report
  • To participate in promotional and educational initiatives to help make pet health insurance better accepted and understood
  • To use NAPHIA as central resource for reporting and dissemination of pet health insurance information to the marketplace
  • To have the support of NAPHIA in educating the marketplace and the pet-owning public about the broad spectrum of pet health insurance products available
  • To receive NAPHIA guidance concerning industry best practices, anti-fraud bulletins and other information and participate in benchmarking, data-sharing and other initiatives as they arise
  • To participate in NAPHIA annual activities including our Annual Summit, Working Committees and attend meetings
  • To be associated with NAPHIA, incorporating our logo, name and website URL on all marketing materials, and to actively promote the organization in professional activities

Corporate Level Responsibilities:

  • Abide by NAPHIA Bylaws, Code of Ethics and sign our Membership Agreement

  • Promote NAPHIA organization, brand and logo on its marketing materials

3) Associate Members-at-Large

Who qualifies: Organizations or individuals who wish to become involved and associated with NAPHIA in a professional capacity. This includes service providers who may wish to create programs for NAPHIA member participation.

Associate Level Benefits:

  • To be featured on NAPHIA’s website, and thereby associated with our organization
  • To participate in promotional and educational initiatives to help make pet health insurance better accepted and understood
  • To use NAPHIA as central resource for reporting and dissemination of pet health insurance information to the marketplace
  • To have the support of NAPHIA in educating the marketplace and the pet-owning public about the broad spectrum of pet health insurance products available.
  • To participate on NAPHIA annual activities including our Annual Summit, Working Committees and attend meetings
  • Be associated with NAPHIA, incorporating our ‘associate level’ logo, name and website URL on marketing materials, and to actively promote the organization in professional activities

Corporate Level Responsibilities:

  • Promote NAPHIA organization, brand and logo on its marketing materials
  • Appoint a designated representative to become an active member of NAPHIA

  • Attend annual meetings and participate in Board of Director and committee work
  • To be responsive to NAPHIA requests for support or information

4) Official Partners

Who qualifies: For-Profit or Non-Profit Organizations who wish to create a mutually beneficial partnership through sharing resources and collaborative pursuing opportunities.

Partnership Benefits:

  • To be featured on NAPHIA’s website, share reciprocal links, and to be associated with our organization
  • To participate in research, promotional and educational initiatives to help make pet health insurance better accepted and understood
  • To use NAPHIA as central resource for reporting and dissemination of pet health insurance information to the marketplace.
  • To have the support of NAPHIA in educating your established business channels, stakeholders, the marketplace and the pet-owning public about the broad spectrum of pet health insurance products available.
  • To co-design initiatives that benefit both your organization, NAPHIA and our members
  • To participate on NAPHIA annual activities including our Annual Summit, Working Committees and attend meetings
  • To be associated with NAPHIA, incorporating our ‘partnership logo’, name and website URL on marketing materials, and to actively promote the organization in your professional activities

Partner Level Responsibilities:

  • Abide by NAPHIA Bylaws, Code of Ethics and to establish, execute and fulfill a Partnership Agreement
  • Promote NAPHIA organization, brand and logo on your related marketing materials
  • Appoint a designated representative(s) to become active participants in NAPHIA
  • Cover the costs and expenses for participation in the NAPHIA Partnership  (i.e. travel, employee compensation, and incidental expenses.)
  • Attend meetings and actively participate in our Partner relationship
  • To be responsive to NAPHIA requests for support or information
